Welcome to the newly established Directorate of Postgraduate Studies at Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy. The Directorate is under the Deputy Rector Academics Research and Consultancy. Currently there are two Postgraduate programmes namely Master in Human Resources Management and Master of Educational Planning, Management and Administration. The key function of the Directorate is to ensure smooth coordination of all in line with the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy's vision and mission.


The Directorate tasks include the processing of learning, research and developing new Postgraduate programmes which meet the demand of the competitive labour market at local, regional and international scale. Moreover the Directorate has a task of ensuring that students pursuing different programmes are mentored and capable of addressing their career challenges in different practices.

Our goal is to ensure the provision of quality and affordable education for all. Thus, the department seeks to provide the students with knowledge and skills which will enable them to attain their academic endeavor and excel in critical thinking and professional success. Moreover the Directorate intends to guide and support students in disseminating knowledge and skills through learning, research and professional practices. We inculcate the desire of independent thinking and team work among the students so that they can address community problems at all levels.

We are very delighted that prospective students will be attending  our newly established programmes knowingly that The Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy has all the necessary facilities such as well trained academic staff with expertise  in different disciplines. Training is provided in learning and teaching environment.

Based on its location near the shore, Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy has good facilities which encourage teaching and learning to take place. Among the teaching and learning environment includes the availability of modern books both hard copies and e learning materials which are found in the library

The Academy has a well trained facility that is motivated, devoted and ready to serve the candidates and the entire society. The Academy has professors, senior lecturers and lectures who have enough experience and expertise in the target areas.


 Student welfare

In order to facilitate effective learning processes, the department offers diversity of services tailored towards addressing individual and group learning challenges. Some of the services offered for the purpose of promoting the quality of the departmental academic services to the needs of the students are such as academic guidance and counseling, career guidance and counseling, specialized forum session for building students' competence in specific aspects of social, economic and career interest Sports and cultural activities. The Academy has three Hostel, four canteen, shops and business park for students. The Academy's dispensary serves both students and staff.

The Department of Post Graduate Studies at Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy offers two programmes namely Master in Human Resource and Educational Planning and Management. Both programmes are offered under semestaraization system where as the duration of each programme is 18 months; 12 month in classroom and 6 month for Dissertation writing.


 Why studying Master of Human Resource Management at MNMA


The objective of the programme is to train and produce human resource managers who are strong in both theory and practice. Essentially, these will be human resource managers who will be able to use human resource management theories, methods, procedures, techniques and tools and human resource professional practices for better management of human resource functions in organizations. The programme will equip graduates with competencies required in proactively developing better human resource management strategies in contemporary organizations. The emphasis is on strategic approach to managing human resources through innovation, creativity, flexibility, nurturing, mentoring and team working systems and practices. This will help organizations to develop and sustain a culture of organizational commitment and excellence.

Studying human resource management at MNMA will enable the candidate to address the legal, ethical and governance components of decision making process involved in human resources environment. It is thus designed for students to understand the fundamentals of Human Resource Management along with building strong skills in areas of systems thinking, problem solving, influencing, negotiating, communications, and leadership

The applicant must have bachelor degree with at least second class and with background knowledge in Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology and Management related disciplines with second class degree or equivalent.

The objective of this programme is to produce highly qualified personnel who will meet the demand of effective Educational Management, Administration, Planning and Economic the prerequisite for the managing  the nation's educational institutions.
